About the Author:

The initial inspiration for writing my novels came from listening to the seniors I have supported over the years. Their true-life accounts, and those of their parents, formed the basis for my first two novels, Olive and Full Circle.

It is interesting to note how priorities change with the surrounding environment. War-time—a time of extreme suffering, pain and financial hardship for many, yet the never-ending spirit, compassion, comradery for fellow neighbours demonstrated throughout those times is all encompassing.

Today, we live in an increasingly sterile environment—a time of commercial and technological advancement with waste and excess to the extreme, seriously compromising the very environment within which we live and require for our survival. We are becoming desensitized and alienated from each other in our quest for more—perhaps a little less and a rekindling of the spirit and soul of our predecessors might not be a bad thing?

In fact, to covet the simple things in life, such as opening a new book…

Enjoy!

Loved this book, the Romany culture – the storyline covering the four generations was rich in description and well worth the read. As a new Canadian author I am looking forward to further stories. Sharing this book with friends as my Christmas gift.

Olive by Linden Carroll This author has a gift for making the reader feel the pain and anguish of her subjects. She developed her characters well and made them real. The story gives us a look at how one brief moment of passion lead to the heartbreaking choice Olive’s mother had to make out of desperation and then the life of Olive begins to unfold.. It’s not what you are expecting, you won’t want to put it down and you will be left wanting more.

I found “Olive” to be an easy and enjoyable read. I thought that it was well researched and presented just about the right amount of historical content. It provided a good insight into the privations suffered by the characters during both World War eras. One couldn’t help but feel for their plight. I am eagerly awaiting this author’s next offering.

What a fantastic story! You follow an orphaned boy throughout his life as he deals with hardship, survival, and love after World War 2. I’m an emotional person, but I will still warn you that this book is a tear jerker.

This is definitely one of those books that I will forever keep in my library, and take it out to read again and again over the years.

An easy read, presenting an abundance of interesting historical facts whilst chronicling the tough times immediately following the World Wars and beyond. Above all it is a story of steadfastness and enduring love, making it thoroughly enjoyable and ultimately satisfying.

Found Ms Carroll’s second novel to be a most enjoyable read. The heartwarming tale of endurance, interspersed with nuances of historical fact. It took me on a journey of delightful discovery with her portrayals of areas travelled by the main character.
